Day 1 : Adelaide - Narracoorte - Mount Gambier
We depart Adelaide at 7.30am. We travel via the South Eastern Freeway through Tailem Bend to Coonalpyn for our morning tea stop. Moving on through Tintinara and Keith (Tatiara Country previously known as the 90-mile desert). We pass through the dry farming area where lucerne, sheep and cereal provide the main income for the area. We travel on through Padthaway to Naracoorte for lunch (own cost). After lunch we continue to historic Penola (oldest town in the South East). While we are there we visit the Mary MacKillop Centre and view the MacKillop Exhibition, the Schoolhouse and St Joseph's Church before passing through huge forests of Pinus Radiata and arriving in Mount Gambier to settle in before dinner at the motel. Day 2 : Mount Gambier - Milicent - Mount Gambier
After breakfast we board coach and travel to Tantanoola for a guided tour of the Tantanoola Cave. The Tantanoola Caves are one of the most visited destinations in South Australia. These caves are the only wheelchair accessed caves near Mount Gambier. The Tantanoola Caves consist of a chamber of 30m width and 8m overall height. We travel through Millicent and have time to wander and find a bit to eat for lunch. We then visit the Millicent National Trust Museum which is amongst the best local museums in Southern Australia. On our way back to Mount Gambier we take the Woakwine Range Wind Farm tourist drive which is home to 123 spectacular turbines at Canunda and Lake Bonney. We arrive in Mount Gambier with time to freshen up and see the New Year in. (B D)


Day 3 : Mount Gambier New Years Day
After a late start we make our way to Nelson and join the Nelson Endeavour for a cruise on the Glenelg River. Departing from the coastal township of Nelson in Victoria. The cruise is 2 hour scenic river cruise which offers enriching experiences and breath taking views. It is an easy way to visit some of Victoria's most majestic scenery, waterways and includes a yummy lunch. (B L D)


Day 4 : Mount Gambier - Port McDonnell
This Morning we make our way to Port McDonnell and take a drive around Cape Northumberland. The drive provides terrific sweeping views of the rocks, the petrified forest, Frog Rock and Rhino Rock and the Light house with a stop at the lookout. Next we visit the Port MacDonnell & District Maritime Museum. The shipwreck museum tells the story of many sea vessels which were involved in accidents in the 19th Century. The most famous is the SS Admella, an ill-fated vessel which was involved in an accident in 1859, This was one of the worst maritime disasters to strike Australia. We make our way back to Mount Gambier for lunch (own cost). After lunch our touring continues with a visit to the Blue Lake Pumping Station to find out why the lake is blue or grey depending on the time of year (bright copper blue usually between November and March) and about the town’s water supply. Next, we visit possum's corner and the Umpherston Cave Gardens for a fascinating look at how water movement over many years can collapse the ground above. We then return to the motel and freshen up before dinner. (B D)


Day 5 : Mount Gambier - Kingston - Adelaide
After another hearty cooked breakfast with bacon & eggs and all the usual country trimmings, we pack the coach and travel to Beachport and have a cuppa before travelling to Robe and learn some local history on the way. Moving on to Kingston we stop for lunch at the hotel (supplied) and have a quick look around the town. We travel home via Salt Creek, Policemans Point. We follow The Coorong National Park through to Meningie on the shore of Lake Albert, and then onto Tailem Bend with a comfort stop along the way. We will arrive back at approx 5.30pm, where the cars will take you home. (B L)
